Full-Stack Software Engineer

Overview

LifeAt is seeking Full-Stack Software Engineers with 3-6 years of experience to join our team as we pioneer the future of remote work and digital wellness. We’re looking for someone with frontend and backend development skills.

About the Role

Our tech stack: React, Node, TypeScript, Firebase / GCP, NoSQL (Firebase Realtime Database), Vercel.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work with three other developers (CTO and two software engineers) to write software used by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. We'll work together to turn ideas and research into production-ready code. The engineering team collaborates closely on both product and engineering initiatives.

As an engineer with multiple years of experience, you’ll be expected and encouraged to set high-level direction and be involved in decision-making with the founders. You'll help drive our engineering culture and practices as we grow our team. We want someone that is energized by taking ownership and building with open-ended constraints.

Things we’re looking for

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• 2+ years of experience with React (16.8)
• 2+ years of experience with TypeScript
• Scripting ability (Bash, Python, etc.)
• Based in US timezones

Bonus

• Experience managing complex frontend state in React
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL database management
• Experience with Firebase and/or Google Cloud services
• Located on the West Coast

1. Intro video call with CTO to discuss past work experience, your goals for working at a startup, what we're looking for, and so on. Please come with questions that you have for us. (45 min)

2. Small take-home project, which will be continued during the final round interview. You'll be provided with boilerplate code and a spec of what the implement. The project should be doable in 1-2 evenings (2-4 hours total), but you will have up to a week to complete it.

3. Interview loop where you join us for roughly a half day of work. You'll join our morning standup, then pair with our designer to discuss an extension to the take-home project, then do some pair programming with our engineers to implement that extension. We'll collaborate on a system design problem and do 1-2 live programming problems. During the day you'll meet the rest of the team and have a 1 on 1 conversation with our CEO. (~4 hours)

4. (Optional) Work with us for 3-5 days! If you’re able to, we’d love to work with you on a side project that's relevant to our product roadmap, but more on the R&D side of things. This will help us get a better signal for you as a teammate and for you to get a better understanding of our team culture. You'll be compensated for your time.
