About the role

Invert is on a mission to automate the design, execution, and analysis of bioprocesses. Scientists increasingly use bioprocessing to make new biomaterials to solve the environmental crisis, invent new therapies to combat disease, and produce essential chemicals cleanly. Our data-driven approach is crucial to this mission, and as a data scientist, you will play a key role in unlocking the vast potential of bioprocessing data.

You will be joining a fast-growing team of creative and talented engineers, data scientists, biologists, and more. We're backed by experienced investors including Y Combinator and CEOs from industry. We're just getting started, so joining our team will mean having a large impact on a very important problem space.

What you’ll do

As a Data Scientist at Invert, you’ll work on building novel AI / ML / statistical models and ship them directly to our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply advanced statistical and machine learning algorithms to analyse and interpret bioprocess data, uncovering hidden patterns and insights.
  • Build predictive models to optimise bioprocess design, improve efficiency, and accelerate scientific discovery.
  • Distill the latest and cutting edge research from academia (e.g. LLMs, Foundation models for bio, Deep neural networks for bio etc.) and convert them into working prototypes.
  • Manage a repertoire of models purpose-built for various different stages including upstream, downstream and scale-up, enabling precise optimisation and predictive capabilities.
  • Constantly evaluate methods and techniques to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the algorithms that we are building.

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous experience in the bioprocessing industry.
  • A graduate or post graduate degree in biology or related fields.
  • Expertise in linear algebra, statistics, probability, neural networks, and related mathematical concepts.
  • Knowledge of Python ecosystem (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, Pytorch etc).
  • Passion for math and bio.

What we’re building on

  • Python, MongoDB, GitHub, Linear, Slack, Notion.

What we offer

  • Early-stage, high growth, impactful startup, offering interesting and challenging work.
