The Role

We have a very ambitious charter and complex customer demands, but we are still building the foundation of the team that can help us win. That’s where you come in. We are looking for our first dedicated front-end engineer, who’d be the primary owner on the design and UX of all our customer-facing front-end assets: our web dashboard, Rutter Link, and Rutter Docs.

You’ll have a lot of say in the design of things as we don’t have a full-time designer on staff. You’d be working very closely with our customers to figure out what to build and how. We want someone who is a stickler for attention to details and someone who is not satisfied until it’s super well polished. There are lots of interesting and problems to solve here. Almost too many. As such, you’d be provided space to spread your wings and go for reach goals that interest you beyond our front-end assets.

You will

• Own all customer facing applications at Rutter (Rutter Link, Dashboard, Docs, and more).
• Apply a design language uniformly and consistently across all assets.
• Drive and make most major changes to our front-end assets. However, you’ll also need to guide other mostly backend engineers for minor changes when needed.
• Develop product features and experiments to increase utility, adoption, and engagement.
• Be comfortable enough to do some backend work (typescript stack) to unblock yourself.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and the broader organization to improve Rutter’s developer experience.

You are:

• 4+ years of front-end engineering experience.
• Proficient in typescript and react (or similar frontend stack).
• Excited about building for other engineers
• Be unsatisfied until the UX is perfect
• Love asking lots of questions

Where we are, and where you’ll be:

We're remote-first, with a local office in Lower Manhattan. We'd prefer that you're local in New York too, but this position can be hired anywhere in the United States.

• Syncing engines that handle data fetching and updates for all of our platform integrations

• A webhook handling system to deliver real-time store data updates

Compensation

• If performed in New York, the total cash compensation range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000.
• Our actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to you, including your skill set, years of experience, and geographic location.
