Mobile React Native Tech Lead

We're looking for a Mobile React Native Tech Lead to join our engineering team. We are still in the early days of our mobile app development, so you will have the opportunity to make a bigger impact and help us make technical decisions. You will be working along with other Mobile engineers, a Product Designer and the wider engineering team to build software that goes directly into the hands of independent truckers. You will build and ship new features to our iOS and Android applications.

This role consists of 70% hands on mobile development as an expert using react native as part of a scrum team, and 30% technical stewardship of the mobile code base and mentoring. This is not a people management role.

This is a full time, US-based W2 role.

You’ll succeed in this role if:

• You collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other cross-functional engineering and teams to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.
• You have worked in a startup and understand the trade-offs between going fast and paying for it later
• You’ve been a tech lead for mobile React Native projects or teams, providing guidance and support in coding, best practices, and technical problem-solving
• You understand the entire mobile app lifecycle: mobile app architecture and design patterns; troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that may arise during development or in production; continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines; functional testing strategies; and release processes for Apple and Google.
• You have driven continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the development processes, velocity and efficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

• You have 10+ years of experience in software engineering
• You have 5+ years of experience working with React Native (non-Expo), building features for both iOS and Android platforms
• You are experienced in TypeScript, relevant libraries and frameworks and have the drive to raise the bar on code quality and best engineering practices
• You have the know-how of native build tools, XCode and Android Studio
• You push the boundaries of what can be achieved with React Native
• You want to mentor junior engineers in their path of becoming a mobile engineer
