About the role

As the Chief of Staff for Alpaca Engineering, you will work directly with the CTO and lead a proactive role in reducing friction and organizational complexity by streamlining organizational processes. You will play a pivotal role in communicating the CTO's technical vision and strategic initiatives. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to work closely with our CTO and executive team. You will be responsible for providing high-level support to the CTO, optimizing their workflow, and ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CTO to define and execute the company's technical strategy, including product development, technology investments, and innovation initiatives.
  • Project Management: Oversee key projects, ensuring they are aligned with company goals, and manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Communication Facilitation : Act as a bridge between the CTO and other departments as well as key partners and vendors;  ensuring that information flows efficiently, decisions are communicated effectively, and cross-functional teams collaborate seamlessly.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, emerging technologies, and opportunities that can enhance the company's technical capabilities.
  • Executive Support: Provide high-level administrative support to the CTO, including meeting preparation, and prioritizing tasks to maximize their productivity.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with external partners, investors, and key stakeholders to support the company's growth and strategic objectives.
  • Policy & Compliance Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company-wide policies and procedures related to technology, data security, and compliance. Proactively work with auditors and industry regulators.

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a technology leadership role, such as a software engineer, software architect, or technical project manager.
  • Proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and managing complex projects.

 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and team management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software development methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to translate technical concepts into business strategies.
  • Strong software engineering experience and architecture experience.
  • Strong familiarity with the software development life cycle
  • SQL or relational database skills
  • Experience with major cloud platforms and spend optimization
  • Ability to build strategic reports and real time dashboards

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-growing technology company.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies
  • Experience or passion for financial markets
  • Managing vendors and organizational budgeting
  • Experience sourcing, hiring, recruiting technical talent
  • Previous experience in a Chief of Staff role in a technology-focused organization or experience years of experience in similar strategic role
