Sr Software Engineer (Android)

Bot MD is a Y Combinator funded startup with the mission of Empowering Doctors around the world. We believe that providing doctors with quick and reliable access to clinical information and helping to simplify clinical workflow are essential to improving the quality of patient care. This is a significant need especially in large and underserved emerging markets.

At Bot MD, we build products that delight clinical users. We are looking for a rockstar Senior Android developer to join our growing team. We love engineers who are scrappy and have a rebellious streak in them and who are hungry to create impact and help us scale our product platforms to reach millions of users globally.

In this role, you will partner alongside our Product Managers and Engineering team to build our Bot MD Hospital Android mobile app for scale across the region and the world. You will tackle issues of scale, reliability and security to deliver a delightful and simple user experience to doctors around the world. Responsibilities

• Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
• Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Java code
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
• Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from product team and customers
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android/Kotlin across multiple devices
• Strong coding experience with Kotlin/JetPack Compose
• Familiarity with GQL to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Strong testing framework experience e.g. Espresso
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
• Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as “touch”
• Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• A knack for benchmarking and optimization
• Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Familiarity with continuous integration
