I’m Vik, co-founder & CTO at Shimmer. My co-founder, Chris, was diagnosed with ADHD last year. She frustratingly hunted for a behavioral solution that would help her gain control over her life and goals—to no avail. True ADHD style, we hyperfocused on learning all there is to learn about ADHD & ADHD solutions, and that was how Shimmer was born.

And the rest of our team is just like us: passionate about making positive change for ADHD lives, and hyperfocus-style hungry:

👊 Who You Are

You’re a full-stack generalist, but have a lot of experience with frontend frameworks and a keen eye for architecting clean UX applications. You’re a self-starter and you’re always looking for ways to improve the product and enhance the experience for the end user.

3+ years of experience as a frontend/full-stack engineer in an agile development environment
3+ years of React and/or React Native experience
3+ years of experience with database technologies like Firebase, MongoDB, SQL
Strong front-end mastery of HTML/CSS (styling organization, animations, responsive layouts)
Knowledgeable of UI frameworks/components like MUI, Fluent Icons, React Lottie
Experience with implementation and testing of complex, secure, scalable, and responsive web apps
Experience taking a design/”proof of concept” from 0-100 through clean, performant, scalable code in a short time frame

💪 What You’ll Do

We’re building quickly, and it won’t be easy. You will be instrumental in leading our engineering initiatives alongside our CTO and rapidly grow as an engineering leader as you take on ownership of core products and features.

You will drive our engineering efforts (w/ the CTO). You will work closely with the CTO to develop new features and extend our current feature set. You will utilize your skills and experience to suggest and implement codebase improvements that build a strong engineering foundation and have a multiplicative effect on productivity
You will wear many hats. You will own everything from development to QA to deployment to debugging/iteration. If you don’t know it, you’ll learn it. You’ll lead scoping and end-to-end development of new features to support members and coaches in our platform.
You’ll strategize with us. The product experience is literally one of the most important things (and hardest things!) for us to get right. You’ll help us build the roadmap, prioritize, re-prioritize, and re-prioritize.
You are a proactive, ambitious OWNER. You take ownership over your workstreams and have experience with owning core aspects of the product (key features, technical architecture, product design, etc.). Accountability doesn’t scare you.
You've worked effectively in a small and tight-knit team. You're comfortable with having little support structure (CI/CD, refined roadmaps, etc), but you've seen what that looks like and you want to help build it.
You’ll talk to members and coaches: You’ll be in charge of both the web and/or mobile platform. You’ll need a deep understanding of both how members use the app and how coaches do.
