You will be the first full-time non-tech hire at a fast-growing seed-stage fintech. We’re on a mission to transform how $670 billion in cross-border business payments are made each year in Africa. This role will have a front-row seat to everything from launching new markets and understanding customer needs, to processing transactions, trading foreign currency, and building the operational engine that delights customers.
Key Responsibilities (we’ll teach you a lot of these things):
- Speak to customers and understand their needs, including travel to our markets in Africa
- Translate customer needs into product improvements
- Manage our applications to new banks
- Lead and own the customer onboarding experience
- Analyse data and measure progress against goals
- Track and analyse partners’ foreign exchange rates
- Trade between USD, EUR and African currencies
- Process customer invoices and handle 3rd-party payments
- Create and implement systems to ensure we stay lean
Must-haves:
- Fluent in French
- Fluent in English
- Willingness to travel 1 week, sometimes 2 weeks, per month
Nice-to-haves:
- “No task too small” mindset
- Previous experience at early-stage VC-backed start-up, or at top-tier consultancy
- Previous experience working in or with emerging markets
- You care about our mission and believe the current situation facing African businesses is unfair
- Hungry for high pace, rapid growth, broad exposure, and autonomy
- Bonus points for high proficiency in: SQL, Wolof, book-keeping — or other unusual skill / interest
